Energy security and the regional energy architecture, consisting of critical energy infrastructures, can undergo various mutations and transformations due to energy dynamics. These changes are caused by potential disruptions in the extraction, transportation, and utilization of energy resources. The vulnerability of these critical energy infrastructures poses many risks and threats that can lead to disruptions and extreme damage to the state. Critical energy infrastructures are essential for society. Their protection has become an important national and European objective, prompting representatives of the European Union member states to take action to identify and manage risks and threats. In light of vulnerabilities, threats, and risks, the Romanian state should have a strategy to enhance the resilience of critical energy infrastructures, based on predictability, flexibility, continuity, adaptability, and resilience. The authors have written this book, which is highly beneficial for all national, European, and global energy decision-makers, as it provides them with insights on how to ensure energy security through security risk assessment of critical energy infrastructures.
