This is the collected edition of the two volumes '...Surface Hangs...' and 'Absence Agent.'

...Surface Hangs...: This short story collection contains several satirical everyday tales where things go awry. The Saarland author Thomas Noll is unexpectedly torn from his life and almost becomes the first climate victim. He writes about indestructible cucumbers, dreary family celebrations, German emigrants in France, cramped camping trailers, and apocalyptic dog toys.

Absence Agent: Noll races far from home in a small car across a very well-known island and nearly gets lost. During his emigration to a dark, cold country in the north, which he calls 'Niflheim,' he experiences one culture shock after another. By the way, Niflheim in ancient Norse mythology is an icy realm in the north, roughly translating to 'dark world.'

After an unwanted, significant turn in his unstable life, the author 'accidentally' discovers another world where he finally experiences something like 'arrival.' He has remained loyal to this world to this day and has never regretted it.

Most of these real stories share the commonality that they occurred while I was actually pleading with the gods for peace and would have been satisfied with the mundane face of everyday life. But who can really stand in the way of change?

These are everyday, small stories told with the familiar Noll wit. I can recommend them to anyone who enjoys books by authors like Jan Weiler or Tommy Jaud. I certainly laughed until I cried at the very first story!.
