Shantaram

Shantaram tells the story of Robert's own life in fictional form: When the Australian Lindsay finds himself stranded in Bombay, he has already served two years of his prison sentence and is on the run from Interpol. Fortunately, he meets the young Indian Prabaker, who takes him under his wing. During their adventures through the exotic metropolis, the two form a deep friendship. From Prabaker, Lindsay not only learns the local language but also how to come to terms with himself: he becomes Shantaram, a man of peace, and fights for the poorest of the poor.
