Servohydraulik

The term 'servohydraulics' encompasses all areas of hydraulics where hydraulic devices operate in closed control loops. Applications of servo-hydraulics include all fields of automation and precision control technology, such as tool, plastic, and testing machine construction, as well as rolling mill, automotive, and aerospace engineering. The aim of this textbook is to impart the necessary knowledge for the design and control of servo-hydraulic systems. It serves as the foundation for the lecture 'Servo-hydraulics - Controlled hydraulic drives' by Prof. H. Murrenhoff at RWTH Aachen University. A basic understanding of hydraulics and control engineering is required for comprehension. The book is based on the systematics of controlled hydraulic drives developed by Prof. W. Backé and his lectures held at RWTH Aachen until 1994. Key focuses include the explanation of the structure and properties of the essential components of a servo-hydraulic drive (actuators, sensors, and control devices), their description through characteristic values, and the theoretical foundations for the selection and parameterization of the control system. For this purpose, a mathematical modeling of the individual components or the entire control chain is systematically and thoroughly conducted. Numerous industrial application examples establish the connection to practice. A control engineering appendix summarizes the important control engineering relationships for understanding.
