German, Thomas MannProduct details
With the rise of the National Socialists, Thomas Mann left Germany and never returned. In Swiss exile, the German Nobel Prize winner in Literature lost his citizenship in 1936. He then emigrated to America, from where he began broadcasting his anti-war speeches in 1940. In 58 desperate, passionate humanistic appeals, he addressed the German listeners' consciences until November 1945. His radio addresses, transmitted by the BBC to Europe through adventurous means, are unique documents of an upright German.
