However, how sexuality and relationships are experienced and lived by people with intellectual disabilities is not only challenging for them; it can also be difficult for their parents or caregivers, often leading to many problems and misunderstandings. People with intellectual disabilities are largely influenced by the attitudes and perspectives of their parents, caregivers, and teachers. These individuals determine how they want to engage with the person, and it is the responsibility of the caregivers to address the topics of sexuality and partnership appropriately.
