Twelve-year-old Sepia realizes upon her arrival in the famous harbor city, with its fragrant ink and whispering paper, that ink and books are more valuable than gold. She is to learn the craft of printing from Silbersilbe, one of the three great masters. Why was she chosen – a clumsy orphan girl who constantly has ink stains on her fingers? Soon, Sepia finds loyal friends in Niki and Sanzio and experiences her first Sparkle Festival. But strange things are happening in Flohall. Ink goes missing, shadowy figures lurk around, and then the masters disappear. Sepia suspects it has to do with the Ink War and a dark alchemist whom everyone thought had long been defeated. The beginning of a trilogy with addictive potential.
