Selected tenses and modes of Spanish

Spanish is generally regarded as an easy language to learn. However, those who learn it soon realise that the correct use of past tenses, the transformation into indirect speech and the subjunctive mode pose particular problems. In the text-based exercises on using the indefinido and imperfecto tenses, the narrative perspective, the logic of the text structure and the cross-sentence context are used to choose the correct tense. This workbook provides students with a basic introduction to the Spanish tense system (and its differences to German) and uses sentence- and text-based exercises to consolidate the use of the selected tenses and modes.
