We cannot choose how we react to a traumatic situation and whether psychological and physical symptoms will subside or persist. However, instead of simply enduring or avoiding this state, we can consciously take action, counteract, and activate our own strengths and resources. To this end, the authors present a variety of different exercises tailored to the symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Each person reacts individually, which is why support measures must offer different approaches to the respective issues. Cognitive and imaginative exercises address thinking, affect regulation exercises target the emotional level, and stabilizing actions or physical exercises focus on the physiological response. This way, all areas affected by the trauma are addressed.
