Selbstbehauptung der Demokratie

Christoph Gusy is known in the German-speaking legal science (and beyond) as a thinker who is both sharp-witted and eager to argue. His numerous and thematically diverse writings stand out not only for their great analytical clarity and intellectual coherence but also for their vividness and stylistic elegance. The contributions to this festschrift reflect and honor his oeuvre, which fundamentally deals with self-assertion and the associated questions of the conditions for success and the self-limitation of democracy. Following these guiding questions, the contributions to this festschrift address the 'life themes' of the honoree: the construction, destruction, and resilience of democracy, information as the foundation of democracy, police and intelligence services in democracy, and last but not least, the protection of fundamental and human rights in democracy.
