The country where Mo grew up no longer exists today. But it was there. That’s where she lived, played, and experienced an almost normal childhood. Right in front of the wall – in East Berlin. What lay beyond was also part of her story and her longings. Then the wall fell.

How did East German youth experience the end of the GDR? How did they cope with and shape the system change and the 1990s? How do they remember it today? We experience Mo's childhood and the beginning of her youth in East Berlin during the 1980s.

Sandra Rummler tells her story, inspired by her own autobiography, about the tumultuous times before, during, and after the reunification. As a teenager, she was extremely exposed to the changes. The income situation and work life of her parents changed abruptly, along with school changes and bullying. But it’s also about autonomy, first love, and friendship. And the new thrills like drugs and S-Bahn surfing.
