Product details

The diesel locomotive series V 100 (from 1970: series 110) is still one of the best-known locomotive series of the Deutsche Reichsbahn. Between 1966 and 1985, a total of almost 1,150 locomotives were built in various technical versions at the Lokomotivbau Elektrotechnische Werke Hans Beimler in Hennigsdorf, after the operational capability of this series had been extensively tested with three prototype locomotives. The entry into service of the V 100 was associated with the replacement of steam traction in light to medium-heavy passenger and freight service, such as the 38.2-3, 38.10-40, 55.16-22 and 57.10-40 series. The development and operational history of the V 100 series is dealt with comprehensively in two volumes. Volume 1 deals with the technical development and construction of the V 100, the testing of the advance locomotives and series production. The various design variants of the V 100 (series 108, 111, 112, 114, 115 and 1998) as well as the conversions at Alstom and Adtranz in the 1990s are also described in detail.
