Science Fiction im Radio

Between 1935 and 1985, around 100 science fiction radio plays were produced for the German-speaking Switzerland radio, also known as Radio Beromünster. Felix Wirth focuses on the sound and programming of these radio plays for the first time. The center of his analysis is on transnational exchange processes, internal radio cultural practices, and sound historical developments that provide a new perspective on Swiss and European radio history. Embedded excerpts from the radio plays and images by Dimitra Charamandas, which examine the nature of utopian sounds from an artistic perspective, enrich the study both audibly and visually.
