The Swiss Idiotikon is an institute dedicated to the research and documentation of the German language and its dialects in Switzerland. Its main task is the compilation of the dictionary of Swiss German (Schweizerisches Idiotikon) in both printed and digital formats. This work describes the Alemannic vocabulary in Switzerland from the late Middle Ages to the 21st century. With 16 completed volumes containing over 150,000 entries, it is the largest regional dictionary of the German language.
