The Historical Dictionary of Switzerland (HLS) offers a comprehensive overview of Swiss history from the Paleolithic era to the present in 13 volumes with around 36,000 articles. The alphabetical arrangement of the content ensures that readers can quickly access information and further literature references. The keywords include individuals, families, subject areas, and geographical terms from all fields of historical research. All articles are newly written by experts for the HLS, ensuring high relevance and reflecting the current state of research. The HLS is published simultaneously in the three national languages: German, French, and Italian, in content-identical editions. The French edition (DHS) is co-produced by Editions Gilles Attinger, Hauterive, while the Italian edition (DSS) is managed by Armando Dadò editore, Locarno. Additionally, a two-volume Romansh partial edition will be released. The articles in the dictionary adequately consider all regions of Switzerland according to a key.
