Codetta

Norwegian artist Mette Stausland began a series of drawings in 2006, which she titled "Coda." This title is not coincidental: in music, a coda is the concluding part of a piece that revisits core motifs. Indeed, the "Coda" series exemplifies Stausland's work as a draftsman and serves as a kind of distillation of her artistic expression in this medium. "Codetta" is the diminutive of Coda and forms the title of this publication, which presents a selection of drawings from the "Coda" series. The illustrations are accompanied by texts from author Ina Boesch. These are poetic vignettes, fictionalized stories about the biography and work of Mette Stausland, based on extensive conversations with the artist. In the book, drawings and texts engage in a subtle exchange while simultaneously asserting their independence.
