In particular, there are numerous regulations in Switzerland regarding the use of designations for specific food products. The designations for food must characterize the products and be based on their nature and the raw materials used in their production. Therefore, anyone communicating about a product in a factual manner had to adhere to these restrictions until now. On July 1, 2010, Switzerland unilaterally introduced the Cassis de Dijon principle with the revision of the THG. This means that, in principle, all products that have been legally placed on the market in an EU or EEA state are allowed in Switzerland. The restrictions on factual communication are lifted as long as an EU or EEA state does not have a comparable restrictive regulation. This work aims to demonstrate whether it is possible to adapt designations.
