Schule als Sozialraum im Sozialraum

Social space orientation is increasingly entering the discourse in educational sciences. Against the backdrop of a broad understanding of inclusion, various dimensions of heterogeneity are gaining significance, leading to perspectives on school development processes that extend beyond the school and classroom. In this context, school is not only understood as a social space but is also analyzed within the social space. This allows for the connection of different research fields in both school and extracurricular contexts, enhancing their diversity, particularly regarding social and cultural practices. However, there has been a lack of a comprehensive understanding and a unified theoretical framework of the school social space. This raises questions that place schools in challenging situations and the implementation of inclusive demands at the center of socially oriented school development. Therefore, the aim of this volume is to systematize the social spatial dimensions of schools through various theoretical and empirical approaches.
