The articles in the "Schütz Yearbook" 2023 deal with the "Musikalische Exequien" and their intellectual-historical contexts (Beate Agnes Schmidt and Maryam Haiawi), the "Psalmen Davids" with a focus on the confrontation with Giovanni Gabrieli (Kai Marius Schabram) and the "Geistliche Chormusik" with regard to the handling of the Lutheran motet tradition around 1600 (Stefan Menzel). In addition, there are biographical texts with new insights into the dedication copies of the "Psalms of David" (Joshua Rifkin) and Schütz's involvement at the court of Duke Georg von Braunschweig-Calenberg (Arno Paduch). The yearbook is rounded off with a study on the philological potential of the "Schütz documents" from 2010 (Reinmar Emans) and an article on the Scherer organ (destroyed in the Second World War) in the Brüderkirche in Kassel (Christian Presche and Gerhard Aumüller).
