A pilgrimage back to oneself. At the age of forty, Chandi Wyant stands amidst the ruins of her life: behind her lies a grueling divorce, and a prolonged illness has drained her physical resources. Far from fit, with an overly heavy backpack and uncomfortable shoes, she sets out on the 425-kilometer Via Francigena, the oldest pilgrimage route in Europe, which leads from Canterbury to Rome – through mountain paths, deep forests, and the rolling hills of Tuscany.
