Do the Christian faith and the belief in National Socialism exclude each other? This question is posed in the accompanying volume to the special exhibition "And forgive us our debts. Churches and Monasteries in National Socialism" by the Kloster Dalheim Foundation. The LWL State Museum for Monastic Culture comprehensively discusses for the first time the complex interplay between Christianity and National Socialism. Renowned historians, theologians, and political scientists illuminate church and "Christian" behavior between resistance and cooperation through ten questions. Central themes include the measures taken by the National Socialists to suppress the Christian faith, as well as the involvement of Christian churches and their followers in the National Socialist oppression and extermination policies. Another focus is on the institutional examination of the role of churches during National Socialism.
