Two sisters live with their mother in a small cottage. In winter, they receive a visit from a bear, whom they lovingly care for and shelter. In summer, they have several encounters with a dwarf who is not kind to them. The bear always comes to their aid during these encounters. In the end, after the dwarf has been dealt with, the bear transforms into a prince. He marries Snow White, and Rose Red marries the prince's brother.
