In the large choir of the art scene, author jewelry is a small but clearly audible voice. Among the applied arts, it has been a driving force for innovations and a seismograph for current discourses for several decades. The GRASSI Museum of Applied Arts presents its collection of modern jewelry for the first time. The collection spans from the mid-20th century to the present day. Curated and prepared, the jewelry pieces provide insights into the diverse work of around 180 international jewelry artists. The collection largely represents international developments in the art of jewelry and also offers a special perspective on East German positions. The versatility and adaptability of how jewelry is perceived on the human body is showcased through the photographs of eleven photographers from Leipzig.
