NSCI has established itself as a factual and analytical standard work on the visual appearance of the National Socialists. Andreas Koop documents the design of the Nazi era in a sober manner and establishes connections to trends and movements of the 1930s. What provided designers with a completely new approach may have been seen as innovative or disturbing by some historians. NSCI aims to open eyes, sharpen analytical perspectives, stimulate design research, and encourage reflection on the political dimension of design and the resulting responsibility of the designer. The now available third edition, which has been expanded by 16 pages, encounters an even more dramatically changed societal environment: the new right in Germany, in Europe, and also in America openly embraces the symbols of the Nazi era and attempts to promote the idea of Europe.
