Product details
Wilted Country is the result of a long journey through America: from Nevada through Nebraska, Wyoming, and all the way up to North Dakota, then back down to the border with Mexico. The Zurich-based photographer Roger Eberhard (*1984), who studied at the Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara from 2005 to 2007, encountered a wilting, bleached landscape. Just as the sun mercilessly beats down on gas stations, water towers, and wooden houses, it seems to have drained the color from his images. Accompanied by an essay from the director of the George Eastman House, Anthony Bannon, as well as a narrative by the writer Benedict Wells, this bibliophile book gathers the images created during the journey. A laconic-melancholic photo essay on the disappearance of the American Dream.
