Product details
James Licini, born in 1937 in Zurich, has been one of the most significant Swiss sculptors since the 1970s. Even during his apprenticeship as a metalworker, he maintained inspiring contacts with sculptors such as Hans Aeschbacher and Kurt Laurenz Metzler, but initially worked in construction after completing his training. As an artist, Licini is self-taught. His work on construction sites inspired him to create pieces using double-T beams, angle iron, and steel plates, which he sourced directly from factories and transformed into uncompromisingly simple sculptures. On the occasion of James Licini's 80th birthday, this book presents 15 new steel constructions in atmospheric photographs and short texts, which were grouped for an exhibition in the summer of 2017 in the park of the Castello del Sole in Ascona.
