Hong Seug-Hye

Born in Seoul in 1959, Hong Seung-Hye occupies a unique position in the Korean art scene thanks to her formal boldness. Her works playfully navigate between the abstract and the figurative, the flat and the three-dimensional. Hong utilizes both public spaces and the classic white cube for the installation of her works. This first monograph published outside of Korea traces the development of Hong's rich oeuvre: from her earliest paper collages to her latest video works, in which Hong reinterprets the comic character Snoopy. Thus, this anthology, featuring over 200 images, provides a comprehensive overview of the remarkable diversity of Hong Seung-Hye's artistic work.
