Christian Klemm. The collection is growing

For 30 years, Christian Klemm was the collection curator of the Kunsthaus Zürich. As the curator of significant exhibitions and managing director of the Alberto Giacometti Foundation, he was a formative figure in the Swiss art and museum scene for decades. After studying art history in Basel and Berlin, Klemm first worked at the Kunsthalle Baden-Baden and the Kunstmuseum Düsseldorf, serving as collection curator at the Kunsthaus Zürich from 1982 to 2011, and also as its deputy director from 1995. In his honor, the Kunsthaus is now publishing this commemorative volume. It contains 60 essays that Klemm wrote about works from the Middle Ages to the present for the annual reports of the Zurich Art Society, showcasing the most important and beautiful acquisitions from that time. Klemm provides insights into the collection activities, discussing emotions, challenges, and finances while contextualizing the artworks.
