With her unconventional lifestyle for a woman at the time, her ambitions in scientific and artistic fields, and her diverse interests ranging from medicine to art and philosophy, Anna Iduna Zehnder (1877-1955) was an important artistic figure from Aargau. As one of the few Swiss women to earn a medical degree around 1914, she took over a medical practice in Ascona, where she lived with her partner Emmy Thurnheer until her death. Due to her proximity to Monte Verità, she soon came into contact with representatives of the European avant-garde. She also maintained close communication with Rudolf Steiner, whose anthroposophical teachings became a central reference point for her artistic work and life. This book is a significant contribution to the life and work of this fascinating personality, presenting Anna Iduna Zehnder in a narrative manner.
