While relationships can serve as a protective factor, they are also impacted by depression, presenting significant challenges for the couple. This book aims to provide a solid understanding of the disorder, its various forms, causes of depression, and its effects on romantic relationships. It illustrates how couples can view depression as a shared challenge and work together to cope with it. The central idea is that depression casts a shadow over the lives of both partners, yet both can utilize their partnership resources to overcome the disorder together. Just like in rowing, it takes both partners to row in harmony with the same goal in mind, even if one partner is limited in their abilities due to depression. Through the concept of "We-Disease," the book demonstrates how couples, as well as professionals, can treat and overcome depression more effectively by involving both partners and defining the disorder as a shared challenge.
