Album in honor of the forester and long-time director of the Tharandt Forestry Academy, Heinrich Cotta (1763-1844), published in 1844. Heinrich Cotta is the founder of modern, sustainable forestry and initiated the transition from timber cultivation to forestry as a holistic science and art. This volume includes, among other works, "The Appreciation of Forests," "On the Influence of Coastal Climate on the Growth of Certain Tree Species," "The Planting of Beech Trees," "On the Condition of Coniferous Forests in the Royal Saxon State Forests," "The Cultivation of Oak," and "Reflections on Cotta's Tree Field Management." The contributions are by W. Cotta, Berlepsch, Pannewitz, Wedekind, and others. With a portrait of Cotta and a view of his residence. Reprint of the original edition from 1844.
