The author Hans Much (1880 - 1932 in Hamburg) was a doctor, immunologist, and writer. In addition to his medical practice, Much was deeply engaged in architecture and art history. He wrote Low German poems and books on North German brick Gothic and regional art. In the present volume, he describes North German Gothic sculpture in Mecklenburg (Wismar, Güstrow, Rostock, Parchim, among others), in Lübeck, Schleswig-Holstein, Hanover, Brandenburg, in the Altmark and Silesia, as well as in Pomerania and Prussia. Illustrated with 71 black-and-white plates. Reprint of the original edition from 1920.
