Swiss private law recognizes a variety of credit securities. This volume compiles, in an expanded form, presentations from the 7th conference on "Restructuring and Insolvency of Companies," held by the Europa Institute at the University of Zurich on June 23, 2015, focusing on credit securities in insolvency. It addresses the most important security instruments: pledges, retention rights, assignment and global assignment, surety and guarantee promises, bank guarantees, debt assumption and debt takeover, and retention of title. The authors examine the legal and economic situations in which each type of security is particularly suitable, distinguishing them from other securities, what to consider in the contractual design of security clauses, and what happens to the securities in the event of insolvency.
