Seasonal Work at Amazon. Of all places. For the author and translator in financial distress, it is a moment of misery; for everyone else, a literary stroke of luck. Because what emerges in the weeks leading up to Christmas is many things at once: a report that is as personal as it is political. A critique of the conditions using the means of self-irony. A glimpse into a hall that is cut off from the outside world and precisely for that reason reveals much about it.

In 'Seasonal Work', it is about sensitivity and the political nature of the sensitive. It addresses the work at Amazon and the fundamental issues with this work and many types of labor. Not least, it is also about books and what they can mean to us.

Heike Geissler, born in 1977 in Riesa, is an author, translator, and co-editor of the series 'Gaps Can Be Read'. Her published works include the novel 'Rosa', the story 'Nothing That Would Be Tragic', and the children's book 'Emma and Horse Berry'. She lives in Leipzig.
