Product details
The mid-1920s was one of the most productive periods in Robert Walser's writing life. While he lived as an outsider in both the society around him and the literary scene of his time, he boldly and consistently developed a unique style and an avant-garde technique of literary expression. His prose pieces, which oscillated between report and commentary, narrative and essay, found their way into the cultural sections of esteemed newspapers and magazines in large numbers in 1926, spanning from Zurich to Berlin and Prague. However, no publisher could be found for a book edition at that time. Thus, the wealth of these texts was only gathered posthumously from his estate and scattered prints: a treasure still to be discovered by most readers, whose exciting and disturbing qualities Robert Walser embodies.
