Ingeborg Bachmann was born on June 25, 1926, in Klagenfurt. She was a poet, storyteller, and essayist. In 1952, she had her first reading with Group 47. Her awards include the Bremen Literature Prize, the Radio Play Prize, the Georg Büchner Prize, the Great Austrian State Prize, and the Anton Wildgans Prize. After stays in Munich and Zurich, she lived for many years in Rome, where she died on October 17, 1973.
