Herr Gröttrup setzt sich hin

The texts of Ingeborg Bachmann Prize winner Sharon Dodua Otoo now in one volume.
The jury's verdict on "Herr Gröttrup setzt sich hin" was "A cool text" when the author won the Bachmann Prize in 2016 with her first story written in German. Four years later, Otoo herself gave the opening speech there: "Are Blacks Allowed to Paint Flowers?" Her mixture of polemic and humour, social criticism and empathy again caused a furore. The new book combines both texts with another, previously unpublished one, an imaginary journey with her parents to Klagenfurt.
Otoo is the charismatic spokesperson for a new generation: black, self-confident, feminist. The author's first novel "Adas Raum" became a brilliant success. Her storytelling shows: "The world can be shaken at any time", as Sandra Kegel said when Otoo won the Bachmann Prize.
