Even the greatest heroes started small. Rumo, the young Wolpertinger from "The 13 ½ Lives of Captain Bluebear," becomes independent and embarks on his own journey through the dangerous continent of Zamonien. He follows the Silver Thread, a scent trail that only he can detect, and at its end, Rumo suspects he will find happiness. On his adventurous journey through two vastly different worlds, he encounters devilish cyclopes and moonlight shadows, the Copper Gnomes, and the Dead Yetis. Rumo learns about fighting, love, friendship, and evil. He finds himself in the mysterious Nurnen Forest, in the legendary Underworld, and in the theater of Beautiful Deaths. He learns about the Nonexistent Tiny Ones, the sieges of the Lindworm Fortress, Professor Dr. Abdul Nightingale and his drawer oracle - and Rumo finally finds Rala, who shows him the wonders in the dark. This is a novel set in the legendary book realm of Zamonien.
