Author: Peter Frankopan Peter Frankopan, born in 1971, is a professor of Global History at the University of Oxford and is considered one of the most prominent historians of our time. His book "Light from the East: A New History of the World" (2016) has sold over two million copies worldwide and remained on the Spiegel bestseller list in Germany for an extended period. In 2019, he published "The New Silk Roads," which also sparked much discussion and became a defining bestseller in the debate – "a wake-up call," as the Tagesspiegel described it. Peter Frankopan regularly comments on current global and geopolitical issues in the international press (New York Times, Guardian, China Daily, among others).
