You can find a reading sample at "https://verlag.sandstein.de/reader/98-823_RotesGold "The sayings on the gilded copper vessels from the former Lower Hungarian mining town of Herrengrund reveal the amazement of the local miners at the sudden transformation of their iron tools into copper. The omnipresent desire of mankind to get rich quickly was given new impetus by the events of the 16th and early 17th centuries in the Slovakian Ore Mountains. From then on, the question of whether it was possible to produce gold was intensively explored. This cult also manifested itself in a wide variety of art, for example in the form of hand stones, gilded bowls, tumblers and copper barrel cups. The Dresden Green Vault, the Slovakian National Gallery in Bratislava and the Mining and Gothic Museum in Leogang are united by the aim of capturing these outstanding works of art in a wider context and honouring them with an exhibition and catalogue. The unique opportunity to present ten of the most important handstones in the world and numerous Herrengrund vessels demonstrates the cultural wealth of the Central Slovakian mountain region and the sense of status of its miners.
