The old Rostock and Warnemünde. He was one of the outstanding Mecklenburg photographers of the last century: Karl Eschenburg. He was particularly fond of his immediate home: Rostock and Warnemünde. He captured them, the winding alleys with their often narrow houses, the churches dominating the townscape, the arrival of modernity in the form of department stores and electric trams, the still bustling activity in the harbour and on the shipyards - and of course the society seeking recreation in the face of the sea. Thanks to this large-format volume, a comprehensive picture of Rostock and Warnemünde between 1925 and 1939 emerges before the viewer's eye - through photos that have long since become icons of Mecklenburg photography and through little-known shots.
