Murder at the Carnival in Cologne in January 1823: The entire city is in an uproar when, in the midst of preparations for the first Rose Monday parade, a badly mutilated corpse is pulled from the Rhine. A suspect quickly emerges: the brutal pimp Arthur Schmoor. The case seems to be solved, and the carnival-goers can breathe a sigh of relief, as there are persistent opponents who are just looking for a reason to prevent the planned Rose Monday parade. However, Detective Commissioner Gustav Zabel does not believe in a simple solution. He is convinced that the real murderer is still at large. For Gustav Zabel, a race against time begins to ensure that the long-awaited carnival parade does not end in disaster.
