"Rosemarie. Des deutschen Wunders liebstes Kind" tells the story of the most famous high-class prostitute in the Federal Republic of Germany: Rosemarie Nitribitt. With her expensive convertible, she was well-known in the economic metropolis of Frankfurt. For a girl who had run away from reformatories several times, she had made an astonishing fortune. Her murder in the fall of 1957 caused a scandal: Did she know too much? Was it one of her clients from the circles of bosses and bankers? To this day, her murderer has not been caught, and the mishaps in the investigation, up to and including the temporary disappearance of the trial files, fueled the rumors about what was her undoing. It is this atmosphere and zeitgeist that Erich Kuby captures in his novel. His fast-paced story of Nitribitt, which builds on his involvement in the screenplay for the film "Das Mädchen Rosemarie" (1958) (and which was followed by numerous other adaptations), becomes a gripping portrait of the double standards of society at the time.
