Ten-year-old Sanna enjoys going to school, loves dogs, plays soccer, and wishes she lived in a completely normal family. Her little brother Luk is what is known as a "heart child": his heart is too weak and limits his abilities. He is also more susceptible to illnesses and often has to go to the hospital. Because of this, Dad believes that vacations are not possible.
But Sanna stands up for herself. She fights to be seen not just as a big sister, but also for her own needs and quirks. She advocates for Luk: she enables him to take a virtual trip to Italy from their living room, gets him farm soda, and helps him cope with his fears of thunderstorms and death.
The story is told entirely from the siblings' perspective, illustrating how life with a child with disabilities challenges the family and how they cope with the child's death.
