Over the centuries, Włocławek has changed its character – from a bishopric to a workers' city. Yet a constant element shapes its visage: the Vistula River and everything associated with it. These connotations, flowing with time and current, can be captured in the faience cup, the cultural symbol of the city. And a bit of tomato paste to go with it. This name is ambiguous, as Włocławek alludes to the past but also sets trends: history with a touch of the present. Katarzyna Kluczwajd is an art historian, museologist, and regional researcher affiliated with the Copernican Library of the WBP in Toruń. She explores the ancient culture and art of Toruń and the region, promotes academic life and disseminates knowledge, engages in raising awareness of cultural values (also in the social sphere), and is a member of the Thorn branch of the Art Historians Association. She is the author of numerous publications, the blog Toruniarnia, and a scientific editor of subsequent volumes.
