Romantische Strasse

The Romantic Road, originally designed for motorized excursions, connects a series of attractive cities with a rich history and historic town centers. The nearly 500-kilometer cycling route also winds through extremely charming landscapes. For example, it traverses the lovely Tauber Valley, renowned for its wild romantic banks and vineyards, as well as its magnificent towns and villages, most notably Rothenburg ob der Tauber. From the Franconian Heights, you will reach the Nördlinger Ries, which is particularly well-suited for cycling. On the Via Claudia Augusta, you will head to Augsburg, where the Fugger family left an impressive legacy. The Lech River then accompanies you through a typical Bavarian landscape, passing by Bavaria's most famous Baroque church, the Wieskirche. Finally, the fairy-tale castles of King Ludwig of Bavaria form the royal conclusion to your cycling journey near Füssen.
