Role-based access control is an attractive and secure method for accessing data from cloud storage. This access control method enhances security in the cloud. Role-based access control is a type of authorization in a cloud environment where roles are used as a unit to control access. Different roles can be assigned to various users based on their responsibilities within the organization. This work specifies various policies in role-based access control in clouds to improve existing models. It proposes the concept of ontology, where higher authorities can view the data of lower designated officials, while subordinate workers cannot access the data of higher authorities. The comparison shows that the proposed role-based access control with policy specification and ontology is superior to the existing model, as the proposed model increases the security and availability of data in clouds.
