Product details

I didn't know whether this would turn out to be the best or the worst text about me. Roger Federer.

In 2006, David Foster Wallace traveled to Wimbledon on assignment for the New York Times to write about the tennis tournament there. Wallace, who had been a successful tennis player in his youth, met Roger Federer – an almost divine encounter for him. David Foster Wallace's reports are the heart of his great body of work. In 2006, Wallace met Roger Federer and conducted an interview with the then not yet fully famous Swiss player, whose superhuman career was just beginning to take off. The result is a text that describes Federer's talent, but also, as always with Wallace, takes a closer look at the seemingly trivial aspects of the tournament. This text has become famous – not least because the tennis player and author Andrea Petković consistently recommends it, along with Wallace's other tennis writings.
