Critical Robert Walser Edition (KWA) A co-production of Stroemfeld / Schwabe The Swiss writer and poet Robert Walser (1878–1956) has been regarded as one of the most significant German-speaking authors of the 20th century since his rediscovery in the 1960s. Therefore, it seems appropriate to secure this work through a critical new edition that meets the standards of current editorial science. As the archival materials, on which significant parts of Walser's work are preserved, are at risk of deterioration in the medium term, their carefully edited processing also has the dimension of preserving irreplaceable literary cultural heritage. The Critical Robert Walser Edition (KWA) is designed as a combination of print edition and electronic edition and is divided into 6 sections with a total of approximately 45 volumes. Its concept arises from the fundamental idea of documenting Walser's work in a structured preservation of the text carrier principle and thus in the manner of its first appearance. In sections I–III, all book publications are issued according to the first editions, and the widely scattered short prose, which constitutes the majority of the published work, is edited according to the publication contexts of the first prints in various magazines and newspapers. In sections IV–VI, all manuscripts are facsimiled in their original writing contexts and reproduced in transcriptions.
