Critical Robert Walser Edition (KWA) A co-production of Stroemfeld / Schwabe Since his rediscovery in the 1960s, the Swiss writer and poet Robert Walser (1878-1956) has been one of the most important German-language writers of the 20th century. Therefore, it seems appropriate to secure this work through a critical new edition in accordance with the standards of current edition scholarship. Since the archival materials on which significant parts of Walser's work have been preserved are endangered by decay in the medium term, their editorially careful reprocessing has not least the dimension of a preservation of irreplaceable literary cultural assets. The Kritische Robert Walser-Ausgabe (KWA) is designed as a combination of print edition and electronic edition and is divided into 6 sections with a total of approximately 45 volumes. Its conception arises from the basic idea of documenting Walser's work in the structured preservation of the text carrier principle and thus in the manner of its first publication. In sections I-III, all book publications are edited according to the first editions, and the widely dispersed Kleine Prosa, which forms the bulk of the published work, is edited according to the publication contexts of the first printings in the various journals and newspapers. In sections IV-VI, all manuscripts are reproduced in facsimile and transcriptions in their original contexts of publication.
