Robert Schuman

This book pays tribute to Robert Schuman (1886-1963), the almost forgotten "Father of Europe". After the Second World War, he fought for a European future without war, hatred, flight and poverty. As French Foreign Minister, he paved the way for the creation of a common European economic area. As French Prime Minister and President of the European Parliament, he was one of the co-founders of the European Union. Born in Luxembourg and living in Lorraine, Schuman was particularly committed to Franco-German reconciliation and international youth work, always supported by his deep Catholic faith. For the first time, Manfred Kontz has compiled eyewitness accounts and testimonies on Robert Schuman's life in a documentary biography. The aim is to rediscover a European visionary whose actions were in harmony with his values, who sought reconciliation and understanding instead of division and polemics.
